Cooperation with Lloyd’s Insurance Company S.A. (Lloyd´s Brussels)
On 1st January 2019, DEFEND INSURANCE officially launched its partnership with Lloyd’s Insurance Company S.A. (Lloyd’s Brussels).
Following the UK’s decision to leave the European Union in March 2019, one of our major partners, Lloyd's of London, decided on 1 January 2019 to set up a new insurance company in Brussels in Belgium to maintain insurance operations in the EU. The newly established company is fully operational, authorised and regulated by the National Bank of Belgium and will underwrite all non-life risks in the European Economic Area.
After demanding preparations, we managed to create new insurance terms and conditions, policy agreements and other documents for Lloyd's Brussels, which officially started to underwrite DEFEND INSURANCE products. As a Coverholder at Lloyd's, we are entitled to enter into insurance policies and to issue insurance contracts for all documentation on behalf of Lloyd's.
"We are pleased we can continue to benefit from Lloyd's expertise and financial reliability, even after Brexit. DEFEND INSURANCE’s co-operation with Lloyd's has been incredibly successful after we succeeded in bringing a number of innovative products to the Central and Eastern European market. We look forward to future co-operation with Lloyd's Brussels," says Andrew Quirke, Managing Director of DEFEND INSURANCE GROUP.
